To Be Sorted

In early April 2020, while self-isolating during the Covid-19 pandemic, I took the opportunity to tidy my printing studio. I worked through a box of engravings labelled “To Be Sorted”. There were a few editioned prints including early work, some artist’s proofs and many others which were initialled or unsigned.

I counted over 250 items and it occurred to me that I might make 25 books, each containing a random selection of ten prints, be simply bound, and offered for sale to help organisations that support people.

The books were constructed with a stab binding, using pale green card covers (left over from the Giverny Portfolio). I engraved a block for the title which was pasted onto the front cover.

“To Be Sorted” quickly sold out. The profits from sales were divided equally among Ely Food Bank, The Trussell Trust and Alzheimer’s Research UK
